India – 2012 SAR Requirement for Mobile Phone
On January 25, 2012, India’s Ministry of Communications and Department of Telecommunications published Memorandum No. 18-10/2OO8-IP stating that the Indian Government adopted International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP) Guidelines for mobile phones. The requirements as listed above are effective September 1, 2012.
(1) SAR level for mobile handsets shall be limited to 1.6 Watt / Kg;
(2) SAR level shall be displayed on the handset;
(3) All cell phone handsets sold in the market in India shall comply with relevant BIS standards and shall be with hand free devices.
(4) SAR value information of the mobile handsets shall be available on the manufacturer′s web site & in the handset′s manual.
(5) Mobile hand set manufactured and sold in India or Imported from other countries shall be checked for compliance of SAR limit.
(6) The manufacturers in India shall provide self declaration of SAR value of the handset.
(7) Manufacturer′s mobile handset booklet shall contain safety precautions:
